Camp has a few meanings in World of Warcraft and MMORPGs in general:

  1. Noun Any small settlement of creatures, usually the size of a village and smaller than a town, lacking significant buildings.
  2. Noun Where a mob spawns or where mobs spawn.
  3. Verb Monopolize a camp.
  4. Verb Staying in the same area as a player or mob to do the same repetitive actions.
  5. Verb "Res camp", short for "Resurrection camp", is when a player waits near an opposing player's body for them to resurrect, allowing them to kill the player easily and without warning.

Also, in World of Warcraft, the slash command /camp logs you off and takes you back to the character select screen.

A camp is a type of settlement. Several types exist: Abandoned camp, Camp, Druidic encampment, Encampment, Military camp, Military encampment, Mining camp, and Ruins/Military camp. They range in population from 50-3000. This would put them in the population range of many villages.[1][2]

Rooftop camping[]

Camping a player character from a roof top or other game geometry is generally considered abuse and is not allowed.

There has been some confusion in regards to whether or not the act of "rooftop camping", or killing players while using geometry to avoid the town guards, is allowed. We will no longer condone this act in game. Players who participate in this method of PvP will be given a warning and educated on this new policy, and further action will be taken as circumstances warrant. We wish to provide a fair playing field to our customers, and this abuse of game mechanics has been hampering that effort.
