As of Patch 2.3, this item is now Bind on Use.
While with the advent of Achievements, most pet item powers changed to "teaches you how to summon this pet", the Crashin' Thrashin' Robot remains an item due to its cooldown, and thus does not count towards the pet Achievements.
Any class with a pet/minion that is about to lose that pet or minion from death or other things can use this robot that replaces the pet with it and saves the pet's life. It is good for emergencies, and with a combination from feign death (hunter) this makes it so neither the hunter or pet dies.
